UK Power Networks work in Eastcote

UKPN are working on the HS2 power supply route at the Deane Croft Road/Field End Road/Meadow Way junction from 20th August.

The plan is to start in Meadow Way and move on to Deane Croft Road. It is planned for the trench works to be on the south side of both roads, however as always if there are any changes due to unknown obstructions they may have to change this whilst on site.

They will cross the junction and extend 15m along Meadow Way and Deane Croft Road to ensure that when they come back to do the rest of the route, the traffic at the junction is affected as little as possible by the Traffic Management and works.

HS2 Tunnel Boring Machine Power Supply works

UK Power Networks works on behalf of HS2 at the Whitebear Roundabout, and down Ickenham Road towards Ruislip High Street start 6th June and continue to 4th July.

They will be working weekends to ensure that works in this area are completed as quickly as possible – to reduce inconvenience to traffic for prolonged periods of time.

Working hours will be from 8am to 6pm Monday to Saturday, and 9am to 5pm on Sunday.

Traffic management will remain in place for the duration of the works.

TfL update

From Monday 15 June, TfL are making temporary changes to the 60+ London Oyster card and the Older Person’s Freedom Pass during morning peak hours.

These changes are being introduced following TfL’s funding agreement with Government which required temporary restrictions for customers with these concession cards.

Passengers with a 60+ Oyster card, Older Person’s Freedom Pass, or English National Concessionary Scheme pass will not be able to use these cards before 09:00 on weekday mornings. This is to enable social distancing on the public transport network and help control the spread of coronavirus.

Freedom cards will continue to be valid at all other times on weekdays and all day on weekends and Bank Holidays. Disabled Freedom Pass holders are not affected by these changes and can continue to use their card at all times.

Where possible, we ask you to avoid travelling immediately after 09:00 to help reduce crowding in buses and trains, where the available space has effectively been reduced to allow for social distancing. If you have no option other than to use public transport during the morning peak period, we recommend that you travel using pay as you go with a contactless card or device or an Oyster card. HS2 TBM Power Supply work has started

Work to start week beginning 18 May 2020 and last until the end of July 2020.

UK Power Networks undertook some trial holes during the late summer and autumn of 2019 along the line of the cabling route. The result of the trial holes allowed them to understand the ground condition and confirm existing utilities.

During this current Covid-19 outbreak, UKPN, in conjunction with both Harrow and Hillingdon London Boroughs, will prioritise work at road junctions due to vehicle numbers being significantly reduced in the area. This work will involve digging a trench to install ducts that will carry the power cable.

The affected road junctions will be:

TEAM ONE
Rayners Lane roundabout to Whittington Way – starting 26 May to 11 June
Whittington Way over Yeading Brook – starting 12 June to 19 June
Junction between Cannon Lane and Cannonbury Avenue – starting 22 June to 29 June
Deane Croft Road and Field End Road junction – starting 30 June to 7 July
Windmill Hill and Westholme Gardens junction – starting 8 July to 15 July

TEAM TWO
Windmill Way intersection with Manor Way – starting 18 May to 26 May
Westholme Gardens, The Ridgeway and East Way junction – starting 27 May to 3 June
Ickenham High Street, Midcroft and Ickenham Road junction – TBC
The White Bear roundabout (Ickenham Road across Sharps Lane) – TBC

Once these junctions are complete UKPN will seek to continue the work along the rest of the planned route. These works should not affect your electricity supply.

HS2 works for tunnel boring machines power supply

UKPN will be starting work on digging trenches and laying ducts that will hold the TBM power cable from the 18 May. During the Covid-19 pandemic they will prioritise road junctions due to vehicle numbers being significantly reduced, which will help to relieve causing congestion when traffic levels return to normal. This phase of the scheme should take place until July.

The affected road junctions will be Rayners Lane roundabout to Whittington Way, Whittington Way, Junction between Cannon Lane and Cannonbury Avenue, Deane Croft Road and Field End Road Junction, East Way Junction, Windmill Way Junction with Westholme Gardens, Windmill Way intersection with Manor Way, and The White Bear roundabout. Once these main junctions are complete UKPN will look to continue the work along the rest of the planned route.

Their working hours will be 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday, 8am to 1pm on Saturdays with any quiet work continuing until 4pm, and no work on Sundays, although traffic management will remain in place for the duration of the works.

This work will not affect the electricity supply in the area.

UKPN will be writing to residents along the planned power supply route next week.
