Harvil Road – overnight road closures

Between 17 February and 17 March, the  manufacturer of welded parts of the new Harvil Road Bridge, carried out some planned surveys. They now require additional time to continue the activity on the bridge.
To ensure the safety of both the operatives and rail users, the work will take place when no trains are operating on the Chiltern Line. Due to the need for
this rail possession, these works can only be done at nighttime.

From 28 April to 17 May 2025 Harvil Road will be closed overnight to allow the following activities to be carried out safely:
    • testing of welded parts of the new Harvil Road bridge,
    • snagging works along the footpath on Harvil Road to repair paving
    defects and cracks.
These activities are non-intrusive, with a minimal noise level expected
ensuring that any disruption is kept to a minimum.

HS2 apologise for any disruption or inconvenience these works may cause.  Please find further information here

Join our leisure ride ‘Tour de Hillingdon’ – Family Friendly led-ride around the highlights of Hillingdon.  London Cycling Festival means wherever you are in London, even if you don’t normally cycle in your area, you and your family and friends will be able to get out on a cycle ride and enjoy the freedom cycling brings with other locals.

Here in Hillingdon we will be hosting the “Tour de Hillingdon” a leisure ride that is a 30 km loop of the borough starting from and ending at Manor Farm Ruislip. At a leisurely pace the route should be complete in no more than 3 hours including short breaks throughout the route. We will pass through or near a variety of local highlights including:

    Swakeleys Park
    The Battle of Britain Bunker
    Brunel University
    Little Britain Lake
    Stockley Country Park
    Barra Hall Park
    The Polish War Memorial
    Highgrove Woods
If you don’t feel confident in completing the full circuit, why not ride the first few kilometres? Or as the ride is in sections if you prefer you can join us at a different starting point and cycle a single section only.

Timings are as follows, but will inevitably vary slightly on the day, according to the ages and abilities of participants.

    10:00 Manor Farm, Ruislip
    10:45 Dowding Park, Uxbridge

( You can check out the entire route here – https://www.komoot.com/tour/1850762946 )

Note this is a family friendly ride, but given the distances, might not be suitable for younger children. The route includes some gravel paths and bridleways which can get muddy so bear that in mind also.

The London Borough of Hillingdon will be on site at Manor Farm from 9.30 with Dr Bike – the free bike maintenance gurus offering their services to anyone who shows up, whether participating in the ride or not.

The ride will be officially started by the Mayor of Hillingdon Council, Councillor Philip Corthorne at 10:00AM.

We’d love to see you the event! To take part simply click the RSVP button and complete your details at https://lcc.org.uk/events/hillingdon-london-cycling-festival/
