SUMMARY:Moor Park Arts Society Morning Talk
DESCRIPTION:“How to Read the English Country Church: Pre Christian era to the Tudors”\nBy Rev. Nicholas Henderson \nOne can ‘read’ the passage of time\, of movements\, cultures and peoples in the architecture and art forms in many older English country churches. This lecture takes us from pre-Christian times\, to the Romans’ arrival to the 16th century epoch-changing Tudors. Simple indicators help identify churches with Roman and Saxon origins. The great flowering of the Romanesque and gothic architecture that followed the Norman invasion in the 11th century are explained with illustrated examples. In the high middle ages and the tumultuous changes of the Reformation we can see the architectural and structural evidence of a period of great change.\n———————————\nComplimentary coffee/tea available from 10:15am\, lecture at 10:50.\nOpen to all; donation on the door of £5.00 each is invited.\nFree car parking available.\nContact: www.moorparkdfas.com
